There’s a lot of mystery and allure with Swedish fish. So here we are, clearing up some facts!
In the late 1950s, Swedish candy manufacturer Malaco began exporting their wine gum- and licorice-based sweets to the U.S. Their fish-shaped candies or “Swedish Fish” were a hit, and took off in U.S. markets in the 1960s and ’70s.
Now, nobody actually knows what the official flavour is of the red Swedish Fish, it’s never been clarified! Some popular suggestions amongst the Swedish Fish community are; Cherry, Blackcurrant, and Fruit Punch. The most popular choice seems to be the Lingonberries found in Nordic regions, which happen to be bright red!?
Whatever flavour they are, we love them and we are sure you will too!
