Quaker Quick Grits
The word “grits” is derived from an Old English word “grytt,” meaning a coarse meal. Grits originated from the Sothern States of America. They are similar to other thick maize-based?porridges?from around the world such as?Italian polenta?and?African mieliepap. Traditionaly a breakfast dish and served on its own, or with sweet or savoury additions. (“Grits ‘n shrimp”).
